Castle Mountain

Castle Mountain

Castle Mountain, 2728 m, lies midway between Banff and Lake Louise along the TransCanada Highway. The upper and lower cliffs are made of erosion-resistant limestone and dolomite, divided by a layer of easily eroded shale that forms the prominent ledge halfway up. This mountain was first called Castle Mountain, changed to Eisenhower Mountain at one point, and then back to Castle Mountain.
