Barry was born in Alberta and raised in Calgary where he currently resides. He has been photographing in and around the province for over 25 years and has taken many photographs of the local geography and Calgary area concerts. Some of his first Calgary area concerts were Rod Stewart (1984), Elton John (1984) and the Eagles (1978). Barry has had the opportunity to photograph these artists in the more recent phases of their career; which offers a unique perspective. While he has many colour photographs of the western Alberta terrain (e.g. Banff, Jasper), he prefers black and white landscape as he feels it better captures the austerity and raw beauty that the Canadian Rockies have to offer.
